The bivalves Xylophagaidae are mainly responsible for the degradation of wood in the deep sea, they recycle wood where there is lack of other food and transform it into a form available to other organisms #MolluscMonday #InterestingShells

All shelled molluscs are capable of producing pearls, however, only the ones with a nacre or mother-of-pearl shell interior, like the marine oysters, can create beautiful nacre pearls.
