The Atlantic has published a searchable database of music used by tech companies to train generative AI models. Out of curiosity, I went on the platform and searched for a couple of South African artists and wow, this is a much bigger issue than many people realise.
@SVG__Collection Remains a mystery to me how there seems to be no concert films of Stevie during his golden period. Also, why haven’t we got a 5-6 part doc about this man’s genius by now?!
Final mix for today we go back 35 years with a phenomenal artist:
This is Larry Levan Live (RIP) @ Ministry Of Sound, London 23.11.91
A decade long resident of the infamous Paradise Garage in New York, overseeing the sound transition from disco and soul to house, Larry was an absolute icon of the very, very earliest New York scene. He passed in 1992. Tracklist in comments.
Reminder that all mixes uploaded here today go on my Kofi for download tonight.

@DEPARTURES19@Art_of_Sampling He looks like Music of My Mind which would fit in with what the interviewer is saying. Although Where I’m Coming From made big moves in that direction too
I miss the days of fully padded vocal booth. A separate room for recording where you can’t even hear a single word from outside, the producer has to sign you from the double tempered window to come out.
@shooterjennings It’s nothing to do with age. It’s lazy, uninspired and out and out thievery. Claiming to have made something when it’s just been mushed together by software. And it produces the most boring, MOR music you can think of. And still ppl are proud to claim it is their own creation.
