@RICSnews@FireIndustry @luhc @CommonsLUHC 4 yrs ago @luhc cooked up a bizarre #EWS1 registration scheme with @FireIndustry that by their own admission on 10 April 2024 only contains 1,500 forms of an estimated 56,000 potentially in circulation. A policy flop that helped very few. They were warned. https://t.co/3JHWaZHt0N
@RICSnews@FireIndustry @luhc The @CommonsLUHC questioning focuses on “fake” signatures but does not investigate the prevalence of invalid (not fake) signatures or incompetent surveys by fraudulent companies.
The role of institutions such as @RICSnews@FireIndustry @luhc and others in the ongoing abuse of the #EWS1 process has never been fully examined. We hope one day a detailed investigation will be commissioned and lessons will be learnt.
This thread only scratches the surface of the work that went in to identifying the fraud, warning about the fraud and offering solutions to secure the process https://t.co/hPs5D4LuS9
#EWS1 and fake signatures are back in the news today after a frankly bizarrely timed (4 years too late) intervention by Clive Betts MP the Chair of @CommonsLUHC Committee (thread)
Thousands of innocent victims are suffering at the hands of #EWS1 - in fact we were contacted yesterday by the owner of a terraced house that is stuck in #EWS1 limbo. Serious questions need to be answered.
We then followed up with a route map out of the problem. Here is a blog on the subject. This was directly discussed weeks before publication with @RICSnews senior management - ignored again. https://t.co/QS8mOaZra9
Despite first contact from us regarding #EWS1 Fraud risk back in March 2020 @RICSnews failed to act. Here is a blog about the fraud issue 👇 https://t.co/hPs5D4LuS9
@polluterpaysbsb Alarming that @UKLabour seem unaware of consequences of simultaneous #BuildingSafetyCrisis and GR reform. Massive opportunity for orphaned blocks and increased prohibitions. This situation really needs to be holistically risk assessed before decisions are taken @michaelgove
@LovellPropguru@RimmerBernard@BldgSafetyReg@michaelgove Four years campaigning for the Earl of Lytton's https://t.co/ZBgpW4q0m1 consumer protection legislation shows indeed we have campaigned for the most vital of all solutions... All leaseholders protected.
More commentary on the Perpetual Limbo created by the #BuildingSafetyCrisis and the many thousands who have fallen through @michaelgove cracks in protection. Innocent victims of fraud, incompetence and Government inaction should never be punished.
@mac63_i @RaineyQC In essence the funding solution put forward by Govt will only be available to qualifying leaseholders. One of the qualifiers is that the leaseholder had to be on the lease on or before 14 Feb 2022. Implication being anyone buying a flat should think v carefully.
Grateful to the ongoing support from the @NRLAssociation for the Earl of Lytton's https://t.co/6mb7YFFbg3 amendments coming back to the Lords for report.
The only way to end the #BuildingSafetyCrisis for all is with extra funding and only the Earls amendments provide it.
