I was talking to a guy in his late teens. I asked him, how come Chetan Bhagat is an icon for you guys? He goes to TV channels as a Gen-Z whisperer, as an expert. Why is he so popular?
He asks “Who’s Chetan Bhagat?”

If you are in a phase where things feel murky- emotionally, mentally, or otherwise- don’t force clarity. Just move. Gently. Take some action.
Start something. Or stop something. Write a page. Take a walk. Call someone.
You don’t have to figure it all out. You just have to stop clinging.

We were once at a meeting with a major Bollywood A-lister at a well-known producer’s place.
We were seated in a small circle - the star was passionately explaining something about his soon to be released movie, when the person serving tea and biscuits walked right into the middle of the group. The clatter of the tray, mugs, and spoons broke his concentration. He paused.
The attendant, realizing the awkward silence he’d caused, said, “Sorry, sir.”
The star replied, “Nahi, tu serve kar le pehle.”
Then he looked him in the eye and gave a smile - it was his way of saying, "I'm not being sarcastic, I mean it."
He didn’t need to do that, but he did - just to ensure the man felt at ease.
Today, I was watching an interview of his on YouTube. Whenever some one in the audience was nervous while asking him a question - I noticed that same smile.
And it reminded me: good people are kind to those they don’t need to be kind to. That quality never leaves them.
If you want to lose weight, you have to be in a calorie deficit.
If you want to feel energetic, you have to sleep well.
If you don’t want to be fragile in the second half of life, you have to lift weights.
If you want peace, you have to let go.
If you want clarity, you have to spend time alone.
If you want success, you have to stay consistent.
If you want to be wealthy, you have to invest.
If you want anything, you really dont have too many choices.
Everyone’s debating whether Diwali holidays should be 3 or 5 days.
Only Gujaratis know it’s 7 days minimum till Saatam. Work stops, business pauses, and the whole state just vanishes for vacation.
Deepawali is the largest, and perhaps the only, pan-India festival that truly brings people back home, as those away from family make their way to native towns.
It deserves a full week of national holidays. If needed, revoke holidays like Gandhi Jayanti and few more, that don’t resonate with the masses and give Deepawali the recognition it deserves.
Other countries set a precedent too, with long holidays for festivals like Chinese New Year, Christmas in West, and Japan’s Golden Week.
NRIs in USA are not at all worried, they are excited,
finally they will be able to scream Modi-Modi in India,
they will be able to enjoy the world class infrastructure built by Modi,
they will finally live under Vishwaguru,
& they will finally use UPI.
The Ganga is muddy now, wild after the rains. But in a month, it turns green - calm, clear, beautiful. Life’s like that. Flow and action keeps us alive. Stagnant things rot.
