Today I offered a 3 yo a sticker at the end of his clinic visit for being so brave. He said “tanks”, stuck it right in the middle of his forehead and then casually walked out of the room.
It’s been a rough few weeks, but this is #WhyIChosePeds. Happy Friday friends.
Just throwing it out there that if you are someone who subscribes to the theory that children do not fall ill from COVID, you are wrong. You are very, very wrong #pedsICU
Booster eligibility can still be confusing
So here's my guide to help you decide whether you should get a booster 6 months after your 2nd shot:
Are you an adult?
If yes, get a booster
Hear me out…
Every child deserves access to free, timely and appropriate health care
All diagnostics, medications, therapies and social support required to care for them, covered
And their physicians, nurses, therapists, care teams appropriately reimbursed
Without red tape
Isn't it crazy that after 4 years of undergrad, 1 year of grad school, 4 years of medical school (passing all USMLE exams 1st try and all semesters) and 1 year of a research fellowship I still have worry about matching into a job? "Dis scressful breh" lol
Science is incredible. Grateful doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel today knowing that my 9, 7 and 5 year olds are on their way to COVID immunity.
As a parent and pediatrician the last 18+ months have been scary, emotional and grueling.
Today I feel hopeful. ☀️

If a nice, older kid/teenager comes trick or treating at your place, give them a piece of candy WITHOUT giving them a hard time. In fact, give them 2.
They chose this over other risky activities. Validate that.
