The woman had been working as a beautician and running a home-based parlour for several years. She reportedly entered into a business partnership with Deepesh Rathore after connecting with him through social media.

The two had set up a parlour business in a rented flat, which was later shifted due to local opposition.

On the day of the incident, the woman reportedly went to collect her belongings when Deepesh Rathore arrived, leading to an argument that escalated into the shooting.

Meet Lady Sub Inspector Anitha, Head Constable Yatish Kumar, and Head Constable Ulvappa posted at HAL Police Station of @BlrCityPolice who were arrested by @jaipur_police from Hotel Gangaur located in Vidhayakpuri area of Jaipur while accepting a bribe of Rs. 40k from the Husband and his family in a Dowry Harassment Case.
It is alleged that these Policemen reached the house of the Husband in Jaipur to investigate an FIR of Dowry Harassment lodged against him and his family by his wife at HAL Police Station in Bengaluru. Here, SI Anitha demanded a bribe of Rs. 2 Lacs from the family to not take any coercive action against them.
The family managed Rs. 40k instantly and SI Vinitha asked them to give 40k now and come to Bengaluru later to give her the balance amount of Rs. 1.6 lacs. The family approached the Jaipur ACB who raided the hotel and arrested all three police personals while they were accepting the bribe of Rs. 40k inside the hotel room. After the ACB raid SI Anitha became unconscious and ACB rushed her to hospital. This is how Police earns its bread and butter from matrimonial disputes.

Bhatpara’s ‘PK’ and the Post-May 4 Crackdown: Three Arrests, One Pattern

In the month since the BJP took power in Bengal on 4 May, police blotters across North 24 Parganas have started reading like a list of names that once seemed untouchable.

The latest: ‘PK’ of Bhatpara is in custody.

The Bhatpara File: ‘PK’ picked up

Barrackpore Commissionerate’s Bhatpara PS arrested Shahjahan Ali alias Siraj Ahmed alias ‘PK’ in a targeted raid. Police have booked him under IPC 399 and 402 for preparation to commit dacoity and assembly for dacoity, along with Sections 25/27 of the Arms Act and Sections 3/4 of the Explosive Substances Act.

He was produced in court with a plea for 10-day police remand. Investigators say ‘PK’ is linked to several murders and extortion cases that defined Bhatpara’s street-level fear during the TMC years. The question now: who was he working for, and which syndicates will surface as police dig?

Locals call him “Bhatparar traas” — the terror of Bhatpara. For years, FIRs went nowhere. In June 2026, the lock-up door opened.

Bongaon: A youth leader named Raj

On a parallel track, Bongaon PS picked up Raj Joshohara, described as a TMC youth leader, from the Kurir Math station area. Police say he was part of an armed group that assembled on April 6 for an unnamed “criminal act”. He’s been charged in that case and produced before the Bongaon sub-divisional court with a remand prayer.

The local link: Raj is known as a close aide of arrested TMC councillor Papai Raha. The allegations are familiar — intimidation, threats, extortion — but the context is new. With the state administration under Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, complaints that once stayed in diaries are becoming charge sheets.

Jagaddal: Threat to a BJP ‘netri’

In Jagaddal Assembly segment, Basudebpur PS arrested Safiq Ali alias Khokan Mondal, husband of Panpur Keutia Gram Panchayat upa-pradhan Seema Bibi. The charge: threatening BJP leader Shukla Biswas of Montu Colony with guns, pistols, and bombs. An FIR was lodged. The arrest followed.

Biswas had been a vocal BJP face in a TMC-dominated panchayat belt. Until May, such complaints often ended with a GD entry. Now they end with a custody memo.

The pattern since 4 May

Three arrests. Three spots on the North 24 Parganas map. One common thread: all three accused were linked to TMC’s local machinery when it was in power.

1. Bhatpara’s ‘PK’: Alleged gang muscle, murder and extortion cases.

2. Bongaon’s Raj: Youth wing operator, aide to a jailed councillor, April 6 arms assembly case.

3. Jagaddal’s Safiq Ali: Husband of a panchayat upa-pradhan, accused of threatening a BJP netri.

None of this proves guilt. Courts will decide. But the timing is political weather. For 15 years, opposition leaders in these belts alleged a raj of syndicates, tolabaji, and threats. After the BJP’s assembly win, the police files are opening.

What changed

Under the TMC government, Bhatpara, Bongaon, and Jagaddal saw recurring complaints of bombings, arms displays, and “area domination”. Convictions were rare. Since the change of guard, Barrackpore Commissionerate and Bongaon police district have been directed to “act on pending warrants and fresh complaints without political filter”, according to a senior officer.

TMC calls it “vendetta policing”. BJP calls it “law finally taking its course”.

What to watch next

1. Remand diaries: Will ‘PK’ name financiers or political patrons? Will Raj’s interrogation touch Papai Raha’s network?

2. Witness safety: In Bhatpara, extortion cases collapsed earlier because witnesses turned hostile. Will that change now?

3. Retaliatory FIRs: TMC has begun filing counter-cases in several blocks, alleging BJP workers are threatening its cadre. Expect the map to get messier.

For a decade, ‘PK’ was a name whispered in Bhatpara lanes. In June 2026, it’s a case number. That shift — from reputation to remand — is the real story.

And in Bengal, where every police action is also a political message, the message is: the old impunity is under arrest.
