The new law prescribes up to 7 years in jail and a ₹5 lakh fine for conversions carried out through force, fraud or inducement, with repeat offenders facing up to 10 years in prison.

Institutions found guilty can face penalties and restrictions. Those seeking to convert voluntarily must notify the District Magistrate 60 days in advance.

Priyank Kharge’s statement is nothing short of obnoxious.

Instead of taking responsibility for the alleged irregularities in Karnataka’s police and veterinary entrance examinations, the Karnataka Minister mockingly said that if people want his resignation, aspirants should first sit on a 25-day hunger strike and face a lathi charge.

This remark has completely exposed the Congress party’s double standards.

When it suited their politics, Congress leaders projected themselves as champions of students. But when serious questions are raised in a Congress-ruled state, they respond with arrogance, ridicule, and complete insensitivity.

Students deserve accountability, not mockery. Those responsible for any irregularities must be held accountable, and if wrongdoing is established, stringent action must follow.
