She is finally in the library.
Next stop @InvertebratesDC, to be reunited with @quattrinia lab for even more systematics, sprinkled with some population genomics, and all set within the goal of coral restoration.

Tchau Galway!
A new species of black coral, represented by two specimens collected 738 m and 1604 m deep off Puerto Rico and Hawaii, respectively, is recognized in the family Schizopathidae. See its description here: https://t.co/6570H9SR9u
On #EndangeredSpeciesDay, spotlight on the Desmophyllum pertusum.
Listed as Vulnerable to extinction, this deep-sea coral faces threats from:
🎣 Bottom trawling
🌊 Ocean acidification
🌀 Climate change
Let’s protect all species, even those found far beneath the surface.
Our new paper, led by Andrea Quattrini. We describe a new species of Paraspharasclera from the Gulf. First detected by eDNA analysis! This is the first report of the genus within the Atlantic Ocean.
Andrea Quattrini, Declan Morrissey and Claudia Vaga of @NMNH visited #mczInvertZool to study coral type specimens for their project “Mesophotic and Deep Benthic Communities," funded for the restoration and conservation of coral impacted by the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
We at @Researchirel were delighted to work with #Macnas to bring Alf to Dublin. He prompted conversations about habitat destruction, and the wonders we are still discovering about how newts can regenerate body parts #ScienceWeek
Great to see the @IUCNRedList update contain 22 cold-water corals assessed last year in Sandgerði, Iceland at a CWC Red Listing & Taxonomy Workshop hosted by @oceanspecies_@geobiodiversity and @iAtlanticEU

My congrats to colleagues in my department in @quattrinia 's lab, @SoniaJRowley@DeepseaDec as well as my @niwa_nz Niki and Alison for their #taxonomy awards!
Had the privilege to present my research at the @NMNH as part of this week’s No Bones seminar series organized by the Invertebrates Zoology (IZ) Department! Thank you for the invitation, it was fun sharing + introducing you to my region & island! Special thanks to @DeepseaDec 🪸
The final PhD Chapter (with @quattrinia and @DrShmoo) is up as a preprint!
The title says it all!
Analysis of mitogenomes from the family Keratoisididae reveals mitonuclear discordance and the presence of unknown open reading frames https://t.co/AkfjwHfQBr

Chapter 4 is a surprise that you will not have to wait too long for. It tackled a different aspect of Keratoisididae systematics and also starts to unravel the problem of why this group is so hard to identify. Watch this space
Just submitted my final PhD chapter 🙈. Thank you @DrShmoo and @quattrinia. 2024 looks bright for Bamboo coral genomics.
How just to finish this new genus description 🙈
This is so sad but unfortunately the truth for many non nationals in the city. I have friends who were afraid to go out into the city on Saturday night. Too afraid to be on the street by themselves without an "Irish looking" person with them. It broke my heart
A Deliveroo driver has told how he used his helmet to hit the man who had attacked a woman and three children in Dublin city centre yesterday. Caio Benicio is originally from Rio de Janeiro in Brazil and arrived in Ireland a year ago. The dad-of-two said he “acted on instinct”.
