I would say yes or it's military control?

If they arrest the treasonous before mid terms and that wipes out one party and half the other, then it makes strategic sense to have a 3rd party formed without the optics of DJT being involved.

This also is attractive to disenfranchised dems to migrate to this uncomprimised party.
