Yep! That’s exactly how it is, I worked with this population in South Central LA as a therapist intern. They all had some “mental health condition” which prevented them from working and we were supposed to cure them. Except they were mostly malingering and didn’t want to “get better” at all.
@krassenstein@BenDempsey18 It only matters if Trump was in danger? It’s okay if he kills other ppl? That’s a rather strange perspective especially coming from you
@ChristianHeiens The younger generations are overwhelmingly left leaning, GenX is the last generation that even wants to fight. After us, America as we know it, will be replaced by something else.
I know there's an account called @reddit_lies (which btw I love) but someone should start another one called "medium_madness" for the ridiculous stuff people write on Medium. According to this one, it is now a Republican thing if a woman wants to have kids with her husband. There's also a trigger warning at the beginning for Taylor Swift fans, because Tay-tay is being called a Republican and that's so traumatizing you better not read it if you're a fan. You can't make this shit up... https://t.co/fncCqR7HxG
@krystalcasey827@MeghanEMurphy Okay, fine, then I am victim blaming, but she is the victim of her own action or lack of action. Unless the guy has her tied up in a basement.
@RanaAurora @WilliamGodAI @MeghanEMurphy The funny thing is, when it comes to other diagnoses, people are relieved if a doctor tells them "I examined you and you don't actually have XY disease." But when it comes to mental health, they actually get pissed off, as if the therapist wanted to take away their precious.
@greattalkruss@MeghanEMurphy You don't have to. Those that smell the challenge leave after the 1st session, because they know they can quickly find another therapist who will cater to them. Those that actually want to change, realize the opportunity and stay.
I didn't say "her skirt was too short."
Sometimes people voluntarily get into situations, despite red flags, in which they are mistreated. Pointing that out is not victim blaming, it helps them grow and avoid such mistakes in the future.
"Victim blaming" is another catch-phrase clients use nowadays to avoid any responsibility for their actions and thus get stuck on the level of a 5-year-old.
There's high-functioning autism, the definition of which has also been stretched incredibly. The child who is non-verbal is most likely truly autistic. The other one may not be. That's not to say that all autistic people are non-verbal. For example, Rain Man. But just being peculiar, weird, a misfit, feeling like one doesn't belong, feeling misunderstood, isn't autism in and of itself. Autism is a profound developmental disorder and it's actually NOT FUN at all even if they are verbal.
@BSeelaus@MeghanEMurphy Oh yes. It's easy work. They just listen to them complain and nod every now and then. No progress required, no accountability, no effort.
@viennasomerset@MeghanEMurphy Getting a diagnosis has strict criteria and they are mostly about observable behaviors, since anyone can report "feeling" anything. I suggest you get a DSM and leaf through it.
