This medieval hammer (c. 1350-1450) is made of boxwood (Buxus sp.). It was found during an archaeological excavation in Ypres (Belgium). #Archaeologists, any thoughts on its function (a stamp?) and do you know similar finds? https://t.co/w2dgko6Wgp
This chest is the oldest archive of the city of @Stad_Antwerpen. Thanks to #dendrochronology we know it was assembled between 1301-1317 CE, made with thick planks of Silver fir. The bottom plank is a repurposed ship timber (of a cog?). How do we know this?
Read all about it in the International Journal of #Wood Culture, where our paper "THINKING INSIDE THE BOX" is now available open access (with @DeforceKoen, Vincent Debonne, Luc Allemeersch & Martijn Remmen) 👉 https://t.co/jmJTU14IMI

Spoiler alert: our latest paper on charcoal production doesn't include BBQ recipes.

🌳💍 https://t.co/EHbqj35gJG
