From a comrade that asked me to share:
“My home was raided by Fairfax SWAT on Wednesday morning. Since then I've watched a comrade drug out into the street naked and then beaten in front of me. I have been arrested twice, and spent 19hrs cumulatively in two different jails.
The warrant they were serving was for a vandalism charge in Loudoun but now I have charges in three counties. They charged me with things that weren't on the warrant and now I have 3 felonies in fairfax. When I was arrested again in Alexandria, they called in the bomb squad and shut down king st and evacuated everyone while they x-rayed my car. I was charged with possessing a smoke grenade (the official charge is having a firework in Alexandria, which violates the fire code).
The raid on my home involved them driving a tank onto my lawn, 30+ call of duty cosplayers, and an attack dog. they gave my comrade a contusion on her chest wall and tortured her with triple cuffs so tight they cut off circulation to her hands they left scratches and the officer had to cut her skin to get them off.
The violence, including sexual violence, was supposedly justified because the graffiti case had pro-palestine messaging. The cops commented on my political tattoos when I was being held in my yard as well. They made sure to turn the pride flag upside down when they searched also. I believe this is political persecution and I'd like as many people as possible to know what happened.”

Cops don’t keep our communities safe; they terrorize and brutalize them.
Let’s get serious about REAL public safety. #DefundNovaPolice

Paul Gabriel Behan and Gabriel Rene Ramirez should be alive. We hold their families and communities in our hearts while we demand that our governments divest from the violence of policing and reinvest in caring for our communities.
STATEMENT on August 2024 police killings in Northern Virginia
This past month, two Northern Virginia community members were killed by the police while experiencing mental health crises.
In 2023, police killed more people across the country than any year in the last decade. 2024 is on track to be even deadlier. Police violence of all forms cannot become normalized in our communities, and the only way to end the violence is to reduce our reliance on policing.
On Monday night at 11:35 pm, Alexandria Police responded to a wellness check on a person experiencing a mental health crisis by shooting and killing the person in crisis (1/11). https://t.co/qI9d8gwOwN
