To plan for offshore #windfarms, fixed and floating, in #CelticSea and #IrishSea, we need to understand the shape of the #seafloor.
In this brand new paper we present that geomorphological map.

@geokaramanis @AntonKonneke @_ansgar "Total water levels include (changes in) tidal levels, surge levels and interactions, but with sea level rise removed." So median of that over the time window stated is what is shown. Not a map that means much in isolation for someone unfamiliar with the current/historic data
@Doc_GBird W! Looks like an airborne EM survey! Think it's a South African system. How exciting! Hope the weather holds for you. I'm in the generally weatherproof geotechnics lab all week 😊
@dickybates2@ugent 😊 trying to elucidate what the sediment seismic strat could reveal about the plate tectonics of the area eg variations in plate speed by slab-pull cf ridge-subduction. And then looking at aspects like thermal bending, magmatic diapirism at the FZs. It was tricky to interp tbh
34y ago today started a memorable 3month #EU#Erasmus study visit to @UGent Renard Centre for Marine Geology. From the off, Prof Jean-Pierre Henriet welcomed me and gave me a lovely West Antarctic seismic dataset to get into. It also happened to be cyclng's Opening Weekend😊
@DeBatistMarc@DeBatistMarc you were all so welcoming. And just the vibe/energy of rcmg and gent itself really made an impression. I think either that first night or pretty soon after, J-P had invited us around for dinner, and I was slightly taken aback to find a certain Peter Vail there too.
@dickybates2@ugent High res air gun 24ch around Anvers Fracture Zone and Bransfield Strait back arc basin. That sort of stuff. Be nice just to do nothing but that, sample the night life/ beer of Gent, and ride around the Flemish Ardennes for three months again now 😊
Sawl sy'n ein gadael cyn eu hamser, yn disgwyl am ambiwlans na ddoith mewn pryd? Be ydi'r ffigyrau? Mae'r peth yn warth. Yn ddistaw, ond yn warth. @RhunapIorwerth - mae'n gymhleth, dwi'n deallt, ond mae'r sefyllfa yn anynol a chreulon. https://t.co/3AvarhRipO
