Nigerians should direct their anger at their real enemies, the criminal leaders like @officialabat along its @OfficialAPCNg party who destroyed our country, reduced our people to second-class citizens across Africa and the rest of the world and the irresponsible South African leaders like @CyrilRamaphosa whose failures helped create the conditions for xenophobic violence.
No one should hold a talented musician like @Tyllaaaaaaa vicariously liable for the crimes of xenophobia. Artistes are not responsible for the failures of politicians except where there is ample evidence they’re enablers.
Tyla’s Lagos concert must go on. #RevolurionNOW

"No thief ooo. Styles plenty."
In a country marinated in jungle justice and gross injustice, it was only a matter of time people killed an innocent person to show that "style plenty."
one thing i like about everything niggas dey drag me for is that, nobody who actually practiced law or social sciences has said im wrong 🧏🏿♂️
it’s only the myopic and barbaric ones saying “are you a thief? why are you saying we should not beat thieves”
there is no way you passed through school and school passed through you and you don’t think that bullshit jungle justice culture is wrong, there is absolutely NO WAY. if you support jungle justice, you are either uneducated or you went to school just for the fun of it.(and idgaf what your grades were)

Nigerians amuse me, we don’t like accountability…. Just this month people have been glorifying jungle justice in the name of how the treat thieves , now we are surprised someone died as a result of that ….
What manner of wickedness will make a person treat another person like this all bcos he is alleged to have stolen a phone? Even the police or any security agency for that matter is not allowed to treat a suspect like this notwithstanding their alleged offence.
Privilege is such an interesting thing I often find myself thinking about. We do not ask for the life we have, and that is why I'm very mindful of it. You often find it a lot in my writing.
Last week, my cleaner told me on Monday(2 days ago) was her birthday. I asked her what age we are celebrating and she said 33. Epiphany hit me that my agemate is my cleaner. I wore a wry smile as I nodded my head and told her to remind me on Monday so she could get her gift.
I then went to my room to deal with the epiphany of privilege. In another universe, that could easily have been me.
I’m still stunned lowkey. Do you know how much you have to look down on yourself that you are asking about what is the economic value of your language?
You prize money more than your own existence?
Pig logic. Absolutely bereft of wisdom or self awareness.
It’s like those people who have children as an economic strategy. There’s just two steps between that and selling people into slavery.
Reducing the things that define human life and existence to commodities. Mammon dey learn.
“This Guitar you like playing, how much has it brought?” “This chess that you like, shay u fit use am make money?” “This language wey u dey learn sef, no be say dem dey pay u” What a people?!
Bragging that your kids can speak French but can’t speak Igbo isn’t the flex you think it is.
You’ll never see a French parent proudly say, “My child speaks Spanish but can’t speak French”
Some of you are proudly raising strangers to your own culture.
If Nigeria is a serious country led by serious people, we will strongly sever diplomatic ties with South Africa until the leadership of South Africa properly deals with the xenophobic rampaging madness of their people against innocent black immigrants especially Nigerians.
I don’t even agree with the things happening in South Africa , but there was tension last December when Asake performed in South Africa, our artists go there regularly. Put pressure on our government to retaliate, don’t take it out on an artist who’s making a living herself
Davido, Asake, Ayra Starr, and Tems have all performed in South Africa recently. If Nigerians somehow boycott Tyla's show in Lagos because of politics, believe me, no Nigerian artist will ever perform in South Africa again, not even as a guest of an American artist.
Don't try us.
