In Nigeria, Section Six (6) of the Code of Conduct Bureau & Tribunal Act stipulates that a person is statutorily obligated to withdraw from engaging in or directing a private business, except farming, upon becoming a public officer.

#PeterObiTheHypocrite action seems relatively insignificant, it is no less important to acknowledge. Nigeria became what it is today because we started overlooking the small sins. The things people assumed did not matter kept building up until they became a monstrosity.

If authorities decide to act appropriately, #PeterObiTheHypocrite could be arraigned before d Code of Conduct Tribunal, a special court that tries public officers for any contravention of the Code of Conduct for Nigerian public officers as spelt out in the Nigerian constitution.

The Nigerian constitution & the Code of Conduct Bureau & Tribunal Act forbid a public officer from maintaining or operating a bank account outside Nigeria. However, as a governor, #PeterObiTheHypocrite continued to operate & maintain foreign accounts, including with Lloyds TSB.

Leaked records show that #PeterObiTheHypocrite is the sole ultimate owner of the offshore companies. So he did not even jointly own it with anyone.
He therefore could be charged with failing to declare his offshore holdings/ assets while being a public officer.

Truth be told, what the Pandora Papers has revealed about #PeterObiTheHypocrite is the degree of his commitment to the things he publicly condemns.
His self-justification on a matter on which he is clearly wrong is problematic.
