My article on street harassment activism just appeared in the first 2025 issue of @TheSocReview !
How do victims share their experiences while trying to avoid reproducing stigmas about racialized men or disadvantaged areas?

New article in Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly and I’m quite proud of this one!
"What Shapes Feminist Journalism? Comparing Dutch and French Reporting on Street Harassment"
@jmcquarterly@Prof_Dimitrova
Read this piece to find out how and why the institutionalization of #feminism and the existence of newspaper sections dedicated to #gender issues inform whether #journalists consider feminist knowledge as compatible with #objectivity standards.

How can boys and men be effectively involved in preventing gender-based violence?
I wrote this @ISGA_Hague blog post based on a study of boys' reception of street harassment awareness training programs
@fggaleiden

New paper in @journstudies! How do debates on political correctness inform how journalists do their work? With @jwduyvendak we identify reporters' concern about being politically correct as a source of racial stereotyping of street harassment perpetrators

How effective are laws criminalizing street harassment in preventing sexual violence? I was asked by @entr_en@dwnews to comment on the new street harassment law in the Netherlands

New article! Excited to publish this study in Men and Masculinities. I analyze how race and class inform how boys respond to #streetharassment awareness programs and how boys may fail to see harassment as ‘their’ problem (thus deflecting responsibility) https://t.co/uBe5Y69BB5
📢 Job alert: Postdoc 'Political Masculinities in the European Parliament.' Apply by 31 October if you have expertise and interest in masculinities, political representation, qualitative methods and the European Parliament. RT =💯🙏 https://t.co/WnsqO8yL9O

Today's my first lecture as Assistant Professor in Leiden, where my teaching focuses mainly on gender-based violence. Today we discuss how race shapes victimhood and perpetration of violence, taking this Summer's UK race riots as a starting point.
Looking forward to this semester
Sinds twee maanden is straatintimidatie strafbaar in Nederland.
