@STRNGBLZ I think if GTA had the majority of files on disc with a minor download attached, people would be okay with buying it as a physical edition.
The biggest issue, to me, about the GTA situation is that with just a code in a box, there is no letting a friend borrow it or selling it.
@STRNGBLZ Physical media hasn't been used to actually play the game beyond installation for 2 gen. Its mostly something that has kept alive the used games market, collectors pieces, or enabling loaning games to friends.
That is the part that is most upsetting in the end. That era dies.
@STRNGBLZ The fastest commercial options. As an example, Sony has an option they use for archival data that reads 4-8 lasers worth of data simultaneously. This speeds that process up significantly.
Just an example of innovation to deal with limitations. But...
@STRNGBLZ Lastly, multiple disc based games have existed since disc based games started.
But the cost to benefit ratio is not there for corporations and stakeholders to look at the advanced forms of optical storage. Other wise experimental ones offer storage up to like 200 TB.
@STRNGBLZ And the 3-4 dozen out of thousands of games released this generation could have made those games smaller with reduced, but playable textures on disc and an option to download the higher res textures as a patch when you install it.
@HJayZ91@JBishie I think you are not understanding. Should the requirement exist (it doesnt), it wouldnt be one that Microsoft would be responsible for establishing or enforcing. They can require a microsoft email or xbox account, but not a Sony subscription. That is a Sony responsibility.
@HJayZ91@JBishie If the info was correct, Xbox would not be the one designating that requirement. It would be based in Sony policy. It isn't, but if it was, the outrage was targeting the wrong company. It would have been Sony that would have made that a requirement.
Again, wrong framing.
@HJayZ91@JBishie But the framing is wrong regardless. Let's pretend the info was right. It wouldnt be Xbox requiring PS+. Wouldn't make sense for them to be the ones requiring it. That would be on Sony.
Knowing the correction, Microsoft made a mistake of misunderstanding.
Bad framing though.
@JBishie@ComicKilligan@king_249 I think that regardless of this misunderstood part on the side of Xbox, it still would not have been Microsoft forcing people to have PS subscriptions to play split screen multi-player. It would have been a Sony requirement. So the framing is still incorrect regardless
@Dave1n1t@XboxTimdog Based on current expenditure this may be true, but they are looking to trim down and become net neutral and then look for growth. At that point of reset, your metrics will be based around growth from a new budget and balance point. You then measure the success from there.
@datbitchbeaast If youre an Xbox girly already, then get the Xbox to have backwards compatibility and persistent library for the entirety of the history of Xbox.
PS5 controller has cool features for a handful of games and some neat exclusives, but Xbox churns out games right now.
@returning_monte@peekinqs@nandanlais@GTA6Alerts Its rarely a noticeable difference between base X and base PS5 and sometimes swings either way on better performance. It'd only be factor for consideration if he has a Pro. But at that point you buy stuff on the PS5 to justify the price of the Pro.
@Focusboss21 Honest answer? Go for it.
If you have the funds, it has a lot of good titles, GamePass makes trying new stuff easy and affordable, and Play Anywhere means you buy once and have it on PC too.
I have never regretted owning one.
@Indiana_England@RenownedZ3r0 I did it so I could continue to play games with people I like in an ecosystem I enjoy vs playing with random idiots. It has not been a decision I've regretted.
