How to get the Glazers out? 👇 🔺I am not an expert on that. But personally, right now, I do not believe in boycotting the club or doing anything that hurts it or its sponsors. The club is never paying dividends again. Less income = more people fired and more expensive tickets. But I definitely think it is possible to get rid of the Glazers right now. 🔺I am of course also not an expert on legal aspects of UK infrastructure projects. But I do believe that, for various reasons including planning, complete political support is required to get a new Old Trafford built. If @MU_ST, @The__1958 and other supporter groups jointly (a) declare that they have lost all faith in the Glazers and Ineos as owners of Manchester United and (b) actively work to stop a new stadium being built while they are the owners — could that political support really be obtained? 🔺Under these circumstances, will Ineos stick around? I very much doubt it. Ineos invested in United for publicity and vanity. As Ineos have said themselves, they greatly underestimated the support the club needs (“things were much worse than feared”). Even if it is very hard to map Ratcliffe’s finances — the industry he operates in, is under tremendous strain at the minute. If Ineos resigns from managing the club and puts its shares up for sale, the Glazers must do the same. It would be a tremendous mess for them: they could never get the new stadium, and the club’s value could tank if they don’t act rapidly. Ineos won’t come out of it looking that bad. They can throw the Glazers under the bus. “Look, we did the best for the club under tough circumstances. We tried, but nothing more could be done.” 🔺If I were MUST and the 1958s, I would join up, request an immediate meeting with the club, Ineos and the Glazers, and inform them that you have lost faith in them as owners, and that this faith can only be restored if they restore, within four weeks, Manchester United’s ability to compete on equal financial terms with the top Premier League clubs, including Manchester City. This can be done in several ways; one sufficient way is cleaning the LBO debt off MUFC’s balance sheet. Then I would state in no uncertain terms that if they fail to do so, the supporter trust and the 1958s will use all resources and means at their disposal to prevent a new stadium from ever being built for as long as the Glazers and Ineos own the club. 🔺The Glazers and Ineos have the right to make tough decisions: fire half the workforce, increase ticket prices, reduce the number of season tickets. When doing so, they will think about no one except themselves and their expensive hobbies, which must be financed by United. As a supporter of Manchester United, individually or as part of a group, you also have the right to do what you want. The feasibility of a gain for an owner of shares in MUFC Ltd is completely dependent on a new stadium being built. A supporter of Manchester United has no obligation to play along with those plans when it means the club will fall further into disgrace over the next 10–15 years. Instead, pressure can be put — through political lobbying — on the current owners that takes this option off the table. They can then choose whether to stick around and take responsibility for the mess they have created, or cash out.
