I hobby, therefore I am! Christian Husband Father Friend Teacher Hobbynerd. Oathmark, Frostgrave, Stargrave, Rangers of SD, Black Seas,... recovering GW player.
@roguecaliber Still my favorite magic system ever. Instead of memorizing and spell slots, you just had stuff you knew how to do and this much power per day (and you could use those inherent power points at your risk!) and you could try stuff above your level! And could use a sword as a mage.
@TheRascalCook I hear you! I played last week for the first time since my son was born… he’s about to turn 24. The new rulebooks and figures made it easy to get back into. Even playing with someone who had never played we had several great games and have dived right into the universe.
@Big_Dave_Loac@CrispisRovira@Orkmek1 The only models I’ve had problems with because I did not wash them are plastic terrain (TerrainCrate) or board game models (Zombicide). I think it’s either a factory process difference or maybe handled more? Once washed they were fine, but even primed by can the oil came through.
@ohadelaide Rolemaster or MERPs. I loved playing that as a kid, and would play it in a heartbeat if the world didn’t revolve around 5E. Such a more nuanced and interesting magic and skill system.. and a scout or burglar doesn’t have to be a thief!
@lithrian1@schabotte@RadioBaloo I don’t disagree. I was just thinking moving silently may be Dex/Wis and being silent (holding still) maybe a Dex/Con… however, it all depends on the level you want to dive down to. I’m an old Rolemaster /Merp player, so I can go down the skill rabbit hole.
@schabotte@RadioBaloo Great idea! I may use this for rogues in my games in the future. Something like having to pick what types of skills you’re actually proficient at, too. Here is just a 5 minute mock up of what I was thinking. I bet there are lots of skills I missed.
@MarshMal_Osprey My best friend’s son did that… on my carpet. Ever try explaining the large blood red stain to everyone the comes over. Every gamers gets it… every non-gamer doesn’t come back.
@jetblackraider @ICantThinkEm Same. I was trying to figure out if it was a rust color and a ____ in the armor, but even if that were true no one noticed it could be taken another way?
@SjamaanN Mount St. Helens eruption - partly because I got in trouble for making so much noise until my parents figured out what had happened and we watched it on the news for days.
@1stAlterations Involved is a great way to put it. You’re never checked out of the game waiting for a long opponent’s turn. The tension and strategy of what to do next is always there. I also love how the races actually feel different in play.
@TT_veteran Lol. That happens. I bought all of Kromlech frostgrave terrain (mdf) when it came out, which is how I learned about working with the stuff. Definitely different than the plastics, resin, and metal.
