@bodybyzedd I think a combination of Trap bar deadlifts, RDLs and hip thrusts.

You still train the hinge and posterior chain and build strength, but with less load on the spine and more margin for error.

That is the risk–reward point.

The real question is how forgiving an exercise is when form breaks down.
Because no one maintains perfect form every rep every day.

That is where risk–reward matters, especially when safer variations exist.

Deadlifts are safe when done correctly, but far less forgiving than most lifts when done wrongly and most people do exercises wrongly.

So questioning the risk–reward is perfectly reasonable.
