Ten years ago Messi missed a penalty at MetLife Stadium and lost his fourth final with Argentina. That same night he told reporters the national team was over for him. He was 29 and he meant it.

On Sunday he walks back into that exact stadium to play Spain in a World Cup final. He's 39. One more win and he has two.

In between he came back, won the Copa America, then won the whole thing in Qatar. The place where he hit bottom is where he might finish the job.

If things feel too tough right now, keep going. Even Messi thought he was done. He was wrong.
