The first story from THE CREATORS FILES is here 😮💨🫰🏾!!!

The first story is one of Daniel Otu @thedanielotu , a 24 year old that is based in Dublin, Ireland. Here is his story as he shared, literally:
- What's your primary niche or content category?
Content strategy for growth. Both for businesses, personal brands and creators
- Which platform(s) do you create on most actively?
Instagram
- How long have you been creating or selling online?
4 months (I’ve been a content strategist for 5 years)
- What tool or platform do you use to sell your products/services?
None for now
Slides in ad: Daniel, what are you waiting for 💀? You know where to find me and Selar sha
- What were you doing before you became a digital creator?
I was and still am a content strategist
- What was the exact moment or the specific situation that made you decide to take creating seriously?
It raining that day, like it always does in Dublin. Cold winter winds whistled and blew slamming droplets of water like projectiles on my closed window.
A cup of tea already cold, a pack of half-eaten biscuits, and 20+ open chrome tabs laid on my study desk.
I was staring at my 200th job application for the year before hitting send. “Why would this person hire me?” I thought to myself. It was a job posting for a communications manager so the question felt odd but it remained as a nagging thought.
If they somehow find my application in the pile of hundreds others just like mine, why would they hire me? Is it because I paid €7 for an AI tool to suggest the best pattern for a “winning resume”? Or the cover letter I had poured my heart into? Those are not unique in anyway.
At least not in this job market. So even after hitting send, I knew something had to change. So did I start creating content to position myself better for job opportunities? Or was it because there’s the story of “The Daniel Otu” and no one else will tell it? I’ll leave you to answer that question.
Slides in a reaction: Safe to say 9-to-5 palaver don push many people to dey create 🤔?
- What did your first ₦1,000 / $1 / first sale feel like? What did it mean to you at the time?
I’ll talk about my first 1 million Naira as a content strategist. It felt wrong. I know that’s not what you’d expect but that’s exactly how it felt. Wrong.
I felt like I had just pulled a heist so huge that The Professor would be proud. I had worked with this client for about 6 months before this time and my retainer was 150,000. Then I got an idea for an event.
I built the deck out and called it “Bringing Digital to Life”. My idea was simple: it’s a native digital product, why not bring that experience to the physical world and have people interact with it. They thought it was brilliant and tasked me with handling the project.
The invoice was 15,000,000 naira and my fee was 10%. Immediately the money hit, I called all the vendors and began making down payments. The whole process of setting up this event took me 6 days since it was outdoors and i didn’t need much of a setup anyway. Just Brand ambassadors, some life-sized games (it’s an online gaming platform) and some music.
1 and a half million naira for 6 days of work and an idea I thought was pretty straightforward. It felt wrong.
- What's one thing about how you work that most people in your niche are NOT doing?
Giving real value for free.
Don’t get me wrong, I understand why some may not agree but in the age of AI, my work as a content strategist can easily be replaced. But strategy is no use without execution so now, I focus on telling people how to execute. For free.
They most likely won’t do it themselves for many reasons and in the end, they realize they still need professionals.
- What was/is your biggest mistake as a creator and what did it cost you, in money, time, or audience?
I haven’t had this yet to be honest
(chips in MADDD OOO 🙀).
- What's a decision you made that felt risky at the time but turned out to be right?
Creating a series where I share real strategies for businesses for free on social media. I’ve booked clients from this and people told me I was wasting my effort.
- What's a decision you made that felt risky at the time and turned out to be wrong?
My risked have paid off so far so…🙂↔️
- Describe your current content or business routine in 3–5 sentences.
I post consistently because no be you go tell me Weitin I go do😌.
For real, I have an SOP document for my content that outlines the actions and timelines I need to carry out before recording or posting anything.
My content focuses on strategy so the routine now is research, research and more research.
- What was your revenue in your first year of creating/selling?
Again, I haven’t started selling. But my first year as a content strategist, I made less than 500k the whole year (salary oo🥲)
- What does it look like now, roughly?
I’m a freelancer now with a few retainers so anywhere between 1-4 million monthly.
- What's that product, offer, or piece of content that changed your trajectory for good?
Product offer: Retainers with executives who want to build personal brands but don’t have the bandwidth. I had a network of them due to my past engagements with their companies so it was easy money. 3-5 posts weekly across platforms and 500k in the bag lol
- What's the product, offer, or piece of content that changed your trajectory badly?
None
- What's the one thing you wish you'd known in your first year that you know now?
As a content strategist working at an agency, I wish I knew the amount of opportunities available.
It took me talking to someone when I was almost 3 years in and she casually mentioned earning up to a million naira from content strategy that my eyes opened.
Your environment will condition you like mad.
- If an upcoming creator in your niche DM'd you today asking where to start, what would you tell them?
There’s a video from Folasade Daini I would send to them.
When I DM’d a creator I look up to, she sent it to me and it changed my life quite literally. That’s what I would show them. I’ll also tell them to feel free to ask me any questions after they’ve watched the video at least 3 times.
E get why.
THE END

As we continued our teaching series for the month, YESHUA, we explored the powerful topic: “Jesus: The Son of Man” 🔥
Our Apostle, @pst_iren, began by reminding us that you cannot claim to be interested in Jesus and not be truly committed to knowing Him (Matthew 22:34–37).
The totality of Christianity is not centred on us, but it is centred on Christ. ✨
Say these words out loud:
This week, we commit ourselves to progress in the faith!
On Monday, we approve the will of God for our life! We abound in grace to do everything God has instructed us to do with excellence, integrity and power!
On Tuesday, we rise above temptations, our spirit is strengthened to persevere through trials, overcome temptations and to excel in righteousness!
On Wednesday, we walk on water, we are naturally supernatural because with God all things are possible. We do the impossible!
On Thursday, we enjoy supernatural favor, favor like a shield, favors like fragrance, favor on the works of our hand!
On Friday, there is no chaos in our life, no confusion, no anxiety. We enjoy the supernatural leadership of God!
On Saturday, we are still consistent in devotion, fevernt in spirit, growing in intimacy, loving God and loving people!

That Avatar movie is everywhere on the internet, and now I am experiencing a moral dilemma about whether to watch it.
The animation is so good and in HD... and I prayed this morning against temptation. 🥲
