On behalf of @Europarl_EN, I want to express our complete solidarity with the people of Romania and with all those affected by the Russian drone that smashed into an apartment building in Galați this morning.
Europe stands united in the face of Russia's escalation.
Our Union is built by all its citizens.
The European Order of Merit honours individuals whose outstanding contributions to the European project deserve recognition.
Congratulations to this year‘s recipients and thank you for all you have done.
Every time someone shows up, every time someone stands up, our Europe is made stronger.
These are the first laureates of the European Order of Merit.

Celebrating Europe’s champions with the iconic, gravity-defying @nadiacomaneci10, who won five gold medals in gymnastics at the @Olympics for Romania.
Thank you Nadia for inspiring generations of women and girls across Europe!
Here's to all those who fought the odds and to those still fighting.
To all those women who built families, created companies, raised generations, became champions, had careers, entered politics, lived their truth, stood up.
To all those who balance everything, everyday.
To all those who are underestimated, denigrated, feel ignored, who get little recognition for all they do, and who rise anyway.
To those who struggle or who are still forced to live in fear: keep going, you are unstoppable.
Today and every day we honour those who came before, as we make the path smoother for those who come next.

The end of the Ayatollah must signal the end of the age of dictators in Iran. After 47 years, it must be time for freedom.
For all those murdered, executed and forcibly disappeared;
For all those children made to grow up in fear of the regime's shackles;
For all those mothers forced to comb through bloody basements piled high with the bodies of innocents as they searched for loved ones;
For the generations of Iranians who had to flee their homes and live in exile;
For every political prisoner tortured, executed or unjustly imprisoned;
For women, life, liberty. For Jina Mahsa Amini. For every voice forever silenced;
For every son summarily hanged from a crane in a public square;
For every innocent European held hostage in horrific conditions by the terrorists in the IRGC;
For all the victims of the proxies of terror that the regime trained, financed, supplied and supported as they murdered thousands across the Middle East and the world over the last two generations;
For all those for whom the struggle for freedom is not political or a cause célèbre but existential;
For all those who want the people of Iran to bask in light rather than remain shrouded in darkness;
Now, Iran must be free.
The European Parliament has long called for the regime in Iran to dismantle its State instruments of oppression, end its support for proxies of terror, abandon its nuclear ambitions and finally allow its people to be free to choose their own destiny.
The events unfolding in Iran must not lead to a spiral of escalation that could threaten the Middle East, Europe and beyond. The Iranian regime's attacks this morning on GCC countries are inexcusable and unjustifiable.
The regime in Iran must refrain from any further escalation in any targeting of the Gulf States, Israel or European or United States nationals.
We are in close contact with partners in the region to try to find ways forward that protects innocent lives, international law and regional stability.
The world is witnessing a wave of change in Iran. People on the streets will change the course of history.
Now is the time to double down on our support for liberty for the people of Iran.
For their fight for freedom, and for an end to the repression and bloodshed.
Just as @Europarl_EN led the push for sanctions and the designation of the IRGC as a terrorist organisation we will keep up the pressure.
Iran will be free.
At @MunSecConf tonight, in conversation with US Senator @LindseyGrahamSC, @ksadjadpour, and @CNN's Christiane @amanpour.
In today’s shifting geopolitical context, the Mediterranean is our strategic crossroads. And as a native of the region, I see its immense potential firsthand.
It was a pleasure to discuss how we can continue to harness this with Her Royal Highness @PrincessRymAli, President of the @AnnaLindh Foundation.
We are committed to a Euro-Med partnership built on stability, prosperity, and innovation.
A strong, clear, and unwavering message from @Europarl_EN to the people of Iran: we stand with you.
Today, MEPs voted by an overwhelming majority to demand an immediate end to the Iranian regime’s brutal violence and the release of all political prisoners.
Sanctions on members of the terrorist IRGC must be fully enforced. No loopholes, no excuses.
Iran will be free.
Deeply moved and honoured to welcome Holocaust survivor Tatiana Bucci to @Europarl_EN today on International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Having survived the horrors of Auschwitz as a child alongside her sister Andra, Tatiana is a living testament to strength, resilience, and courage. Her presence is a solemn reminder of why we must never forget.
Cara Tatiana, grazie per la tua forza. Grazie per condividere la tua storia con il mondo dal Parlamento europeo.
We are reinforcing our partnership with Jordan with a €500 million macro-financial assistance package in loans.
Signed today, the assistance will support Jordan’s economic resilience.
We look forward to deepening our cooperation with a key partner in the region 🇪🇺🇯🇴
A new year is upon us.
And with it, fresh determination to build a Europe that lives up to its promise.
That makes it easier, fairer and safer for everyone.
That is larger, reformed and faster.
That stands up for our way in the world.
Here’s to 2026!
