Silent Hill 2 has a hidden alternate Dog Ending, accessible only if you own the physical PS5 disc of the game.
You need to revert the game to the unpatched verson 1.00 in order to get this ending.
This is why physical media matters. It preserves content and access that digital ownership doesn't always guarantee.

Not only for your attempt to destroy my reputation, but also for all the harm you caused me and my mental health by manipulating and enouraging a huge group of people to attack me for several days non-stop, and purposefully making it all escalate far beyond online harassment.
And trust me, I'm not trying to scare you. I have all the evidence I need. You have provided nothing substantiating all the extreme claims you made about me. So make your choice.

Mary's letter isn't real, and it changes as the game progresses.
It turns blank when James kills Eddie, it disappears from the envelope after watching the videotape, and the envelope also disappears after the Pyramid Heads fight, when James finally accepts the truth.
James never really got a letter that called him to Silent Hill, it was just another delusion, because he was desperate to convince himself that Mary was still alive, and that the past 3 years of her illness never happened.
