@SpeechMn try to add a lighter twist to it. try to add some hope or something at the end to tie in a good theme. i’m not a big fan of the pieces that are super depressing for the entire piece, it shows a lot of writing maturity when you can tie in a nice theme to a dire situation.

@SpeechMn i watched DI and duo finals and every single moorhead speaker in that room deserved to be there. it was definitely not rigged, they have a way longer speech season and great coaching. that’s not the fault of the judges or the meet. they’re just good.

@SpeechMn i would advise against it, doing such a widely known movie is extremely difficult. you have to live up to the expectations of the audience and you have little freedom with how you perform it.

@SpeechMn as someone who went to state with a serious creative, they’re great! as long as it has a happy end/twist to it and it’s not all sad and terrible, you can do very very well with them. that’s what’s great about creative, you have so much freedom with what you write:)

@SpeechMn in my last meet i got a 1 100 and a 5 91. one thing about speech is it’s all up to the judge. it’ll hit with some and not with others. listen to their critiques but also take them with a grain of salt, yknow?
