RECHAZÓ MILLONES POR HATSUNE MIKU
Wataru Sasaki, productor de Hatsune Miku confesó que durante los primeros años del software tuvo que rechazar casi el ochenta por ciento de las ofertas comerciales masivas para proteger la esencia del proyecto.
Cuando el fenómeno apenas arrancaba, le llovieron propuestas para acaparar su imagen. Le tiraron sobre la mesa contratos para meterla como idol fija en la televisión e incluso Kadokawa buscó crear un crossover oficial con Touhou Project, pero el equipo bateó los contratos corporativos para evitar ahogar la libertad de los artistas independientes en internet.
Antes de apostar por Hatsune Miku en 2007, Crypton Future Media ya había comercializado los bancos de voz de MEIKO y KAITO usando el motor de Yamaha. Esos primeros programas generaron ventas tan bajas que el estudio no tenía garantizado el futuro de la división y estuvo a punto de abandonar el desarrollo.
Rechazar millones fue su mejor jugada comercial.
