A 30-year chapter of Tekken history has officially ended 🫡

Within just 5 months, both longtime Tekken leaders Katsuhiro Harada and Kohei "Nakatsu" Ikeda have officially departed from the franchise and Bandai Namco.

Harada announced his departure in December 2025 after helping build Tekken from a niche arcade fighter into the best-selling 3D fighting game franchise in history.

Having been involved with the series since the very first Tekken in 1994, he helped shape nearly every era of the franchise.

Just months later, Kohei Ikeda officially departed at the end of May 2026. A competitive Tekken player-turned-developer, Ikeda became one of the most influential gameplay designers in the franchise's history.

As Game Director of Tekken 7 and Tekken 8, he helped define modern Tekken through innovations like Slow-Motion finishes and the Heat System, pushing the series toward the aggressive, high-stakes style fans know today.

Harada built the culture, the lore, and the community.

Ikeda perfected the game played inside it.

Together, they transformed a 90s arcade project into a global phenomenon that influenced generations of fighting games.

Their departures mark the end of one of the most successful chapters in Tekken history and the beginning of a new era under Michael Murray and the next generation of developers.

Thank you for 30 years of unforgettable fights.
