📢 Today, DWR conducted the 4th Phillips Station snow survey of 2020.

The latest wet storm has increased our water year numbers across NorCal and we are now 50-60% of average to date. More #rain and #snow are on the way starting Sunday night into next week! #cawx
Today, the #baydelta is home to many non-native piscivores (AKA fish-eating) fish that weren't around in the past.
Brown bullhead, striped bass, largemouth bass, channel catfish, + others will eat a young #chinooksalmon if they have the chance! 😨

Lynn from the Delta Science Program here, welcoming you to another #sciencefriday! 🙌
Last week, we looked at the difficult journey young #chinooksalmon make through the #baydelta to the Pacific Ocean. This week, let's look closer at one reason it's so tough: predation! 💀

@RestoretheDelta The current system + infrastructure is failing all parties - the environment, Delta & water users who depend on the SWP. Climate change will only exacerbate this dynamic. Whether this project or another, improvements are needed to ensure a reliable water supply + stable ecosystem
ICYMI: @CA_DWR moved forward with environmental review of new conveyance system for the State Water Project. Details continue to be worked out, but updating the state's water system & infrastructure is critical for 27M Californians & 3M acres of farmland.

I’m worried that we’re on a disastrous course for California’s water management that will harm our communities and environment. There’s only one way to avoid this potential crisis, and that’s for @GavinNewsom and @SecBernhardt to work together.
Good news. In the last 2 weeks, northern California has gone from <10% of average precipitation to 78% of average precipitation for the water year.

It would benefit the entire state and the environment if the state and federal agencies would work collaboratively on this new approach to avoid more disruptive litigation.
