Today a righteous man was killed by the most wicked army on earth. Khaled Nabhan who we watched bid farewell to his beloved Reem, the soul of our soul, has joined her in the realm of souls where the wickedness of this so called humanity will no longer reach them. The man had an angelic presence to say the least. He smiled in the face of a genocide, and went around hospitals and camps comforting people despite his own pain. A man who seemed too good to be here. I longed for the day to meet him in person. The demonized turbaned Muslim man who was everything they said he couldn’t be. Kind. Loving. Righteous. Resilient. Too good for this world. Our hearts are broken. Det finns en hel värld av information som jag inte känner till om Israel, Gaza och Mellanöstern. Desinformation frodas och känslorna är så höga, att ta vilken position som helst riskerar att inte bara vara fel, utan spektakulärt så.

Vi lärde oss i upptakten till Irakkriget hur lätt det är att backa fel häst och hur svårt det är att återkalla den hunden när den väl är ur kopplet. Så många saker att tänka på, hålla reda på, stå bakom.

Ibland kommer det data som är så grova att de inte kan snurras, eller som ingen annan dyster och ansträngande punkt kan övervinna.

En sak som inte är svår att räkna ut: döda oskyldiga människor, icke-stridande, i tusental. Detta kan inte vara vägen. Och vi kan inte vara en del av det. Även sett genom krigets dimma är antalet offer i Gaza astronomiskt. Det kan helt enkelt inte finnas så många skurkar i Gaza för att rättfärdiga bombningarna, skottlossningen, svältandet/törsten, bristen på tillgång till medicinska förnödenheter. Det här handlar inte om försvar längre.

Jag har ingen illvilja mot judarna. Jag är inte antisemit. Jag är emot att blåsa ur helvetet för människor som inte har några medel att försvara sig, slå tillbaka eller så mycket som att dricka ett glas vatten. Att skjuta fisk i en tunna är ett snällare scenario än vad som händer nu.

USA kanske inte har makten att kontrollera Israels handlingar, men det går inte att förneka att vi har makten att påverka dem. Vi som medborgare har förmågan och plikten att tala om dessa saker. Vi ignorerar dem på egen risk. Vi kommer att vakna upp en dag, förskräckta över våra egna handlingar och passivitet, och det är i bästa fall att vi överhuvudtaget vaknar till det.
