Poll: which rule breaks first? (a) 5-trade cap (b) daily stop (c) session cutoff (d) all three instantly. For me its always the stop. CPI Wednesday 8:30am, and tomorrow is Columbus Day — thin tape. $NQ
Day 8. Friday: -$1,685. 7 trades in 4 minutes. Avg loss -$351, avg win $61. I knew by trade #1 I was on tilt and kept going anyway. You cant trade calm after a red-flag start. $NQ
CPI Wednesday 8:30am. Forecast ~3.6%.
Last two CPI days ripped both ways. My rule says no trading after 2pm, but mornings are fair game.
Traders: CPI day — trade it, fade the first move, or sit out?
The math that keeps beating me:
My avg win: $61.
My avg loss: $351.
That's nearly 6x. With that tilt, I could win 80% of my trades and still bleed out.
Fix the ratio or nothing else matters. $NQ
Day 7 of the journey.
Friday: -$1,685 in 4 minutes. 7 trades. Broke my -$400 stop and my 5-trade cap in the same breath. The $1,500 drawdown killed the eval.
No excuses. Writing it down so Monday doesn't look the same. $NQ
Honest question for the traders:
What's harder — taking the stop, or staying stopped?
I can take a -$400 stop. My problem is the 5 minutes after, when I convince myself the next trade is different.
Yesterday: +$390 on 11 trades. Green day.
But the 3 afternoon trades added $67 while giving me my biggest loss of the day.
New rule, locked: no trading after 2pm. My edge lives in the first hour. Everything after is donation. $NQ
7 trades. 4 minutes. -$1,685.
2 wins for +$122. 5 losses for -$1,755. Avg loss $351, avg win $61.
Blew through my -$400 hard stop like it wasn't there.
Same disease as Tuesday. The stop only works if I respect it. $NQ
Today: jobless claims 8:30, 30-yr auction 1pm, Fed Musalem 1:40pm.
First day under my 5-trade cap.
Honest question: do you trade worse on busy news days or boring ones? I overtrade both — news gives me excuses, boredom gives me ideas. $NQ
FOMC minutes day. Finished +$555 on 12 trades — then flat from 10am.
No positions into 2pm. No hero trades after.
Yesterday-me would have traded the minutes. Today-me closed the laptop.
Discipline is a decision you make before the market gives you a reason not to. $NQ
Green day: +$322.50, 8 trades, done by 9:40. Inside your $300–500 target, one tiny $22 loss.
One honest note: first day under the 5-trade cap and you did 8. The cap only works if it's real.
34 trades in 42 minutes. -$790. Won 59% of them — and still lost. Fees took $255. Blew through my -$400 daily stop. Avg loss was 2.2x my avg win, so 59% wins wasn't enough. Writing it down so tomorrow doesn't look the same.
Green-day question: when do you stop?
(a) Profit target hit — done
(b) Time cap — out by 10am regardless
(c) Gut — feel the turn, walk
I used to pick (c). Cost me -$790 yesterday. What's your rule?
FOMC minutes 2pm ET. The afternoon belongs to that release.
My plan: flat from the open. No new positions into 2pm, no hero trades after.
Record highs + 5.35% 10-yr + Fed minutes = a day for capital preservation, not prediction. $NQ
Day 4 of passing 5 prop accounts.
Yesterday: -$790 on 34 trades. Avg loss was 2x my avg win.
Today: +$495 on 11 trades, done by 9:40. Avg win $116, avg loss $59.
Same trader. Different math. $NQ
