With summer winding down, I wanted to share some songs that I’ve been listening to lately – and it wouldn’t be my playlist if it didn’t include an eclectic mix. I hope you find something new to listen to!
@jazminxfra820@abhornUCRedu It's concerning to see winning prioritized over academic achievement and marginalized athletes scouted without addressing the underlying microaggressions at play. How can we create a system that truly values both education and inclusivity? #educ150@annaaacha
@ESilvaVel@annaaacha Exactly! I understand that the NCAA invest a lot into these student-athletes but those athletes also invest a lot into their institution. This makes it nearly impossible for students athletes to escape being taken advantage of. #ucr150@annaacha
@Alicia_Rendon11@abhornUCRedu You bring up a valid point. Limiting student athletes’ options, while they are trying to better themselves shouldn’t be so difficult. Especially since there aren’t as many hoops coaches have to jump through. #ucr150@annaacha
@AndrewBobadil10 @annaacha I completely agree, its ridiculous how coaches with little to know medical knowlege feel so comfortable allowing (and sometimes forcing) student athletes to participate even with serious injuries. #ucr150
@Chesweetheart@annaaacha I agree it is ridiculous that was made to provide equal opportunities is seen as a way to diminish male athletes opportunities. I can only believe that it stems from ignorance and entitlement. @annaaacha#ucr150
@lisscastrom@annaaacha While I understand it’s used to motivate athletes to do well in academics&athletics. But, considering coaches aren’t required to renew need based scholarships, creates a stressful environment for an already stressful time in these athletes lives. #ucr150
@yeesssiiii_@ElissaMMonteiro Additionally, they are being treated and expected to put their sport as a priority.Making it even harder to have a healthy balance and you find many athletes struggling with their physical/mental health & academics. #ucr150
