Bocca della Verità, Rome, Italy.
The Bocca della Verità is an imposing disc-shaped marble sculpture measuring about 1.75 meters in diameter. It is made from Pavonazzetto marble, a type of marble highly prized in ancient Rome for its distinctive veining. The sculpture depicts a face, possibly that of a river god or Oceanus, the divine personification of the sea in Greek mythology. The eyes, nose, and mouth are open, with the mouth serving as a central focal point due to the myth associated with it.
According to popular legend, the Bocca della Verità would bite off the hand of anyone who lied while their hand was placed inside the sculpture's mouth. This legend harks back to the Middle Ages and has perpetuated the sculpture's fame. In some accounts, it served as a lie detector test in medieval times, where those suspected of dishonesty were made to put their hand in the "mouth" and answer questions.
Today, the Bocca della Verità rests in the portico of the church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin, attracting a steady stream of tourists. Many visitors willingly place their hands in the mouth of the sculpture and swear to tell the truth, participating in a tradition steeped in centuries of folklore and legend.

"We've been conditioned to never quit on a relationship, no matter how unhealthy and detrimental it is for us. That conditioning is toxic. Staying in a relationship that's unhealthy and detrimental for us is quitting on ourselves."

Today is St Martin's Day - "Old Halloween" - which Welsh folklore tells us is a special day for the Cŵn Annwn:
"These dogs went in procession through the lonely lanes and byways of Wales guided by their master, a dark gigantic figure with a horn around his neck"

Lmao at me being sent a screenshot to a bunch of American pagans questioning whether or not I’m “actually Welsh” because my name isn’t Welsh.
Sorry to all the people who live in Wales but don’t have a Welsh name. They have spoken. We aren’t Welsh 😂
