We kept our promise.
No Ghanaian has been abandoned in harm's way.
About a thousand Ghanaians have now been evacuated from South Africa by the Government of Ghana following the latest wave of xenophobic attacks.
Last night, it was a profound honour to welcome our fellow nationals with love, warmth and the pride of being a servant leader in a great country which does not forsake our citizens, particularly in time of distress.
But our work is far from over โ we shall ensure reintegration with dignity, medical and psychosocial support, pursue compensation for those who have left properties and businesses behind, secure jobs for folks able to work and intensify our efforts towards achieving Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah's Pan-African dream of genuine African integration.
I commend dedicated staff of the Foreign Ministry; our High Commission in Pretoria; colleague ministers; senior government officials; partner state institutions including GAF, GACL, GCAA, NADMO, GIS, GPS; the IOM; Ethiopian Airlines and the media for the flawless and efficient execution.
We are grateful to Ghanaian CEOs for their remarkable partnership with us aimed at creating employment opportunities for our returning nationals.
God bless President John Mahama for his inspiring and outstanding leadership and guidance.
The Mahama Administration shall continue to defend the rights of our cherished citizens, serve with compassion and safeguard the welfare of ALL GHANAIANS.
For God and Country ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐๐พ
Ghana's swift and responsible intervention should now be better appreciated by the critics who accused us of overreacting and moving in too quickly to save our citizens.
The Mahama Administration does not gamble with the precious lives of Ghanaians.
We convey our deepest and sincerest condolences to the Government and people of Mozambique on the loss of five of their nationals due to the ongoing xenophobic attacks as confirmed by the Mozambican Government.
No African should ever be killed by fellow Africans on African soil.
May these condemnable acts never quench our Pan-African resolve for true African unity, full integration, free movement, common market and significant intra-African trade as Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah pioneered and sacrificed greatly for.
We urge Ghanaian CEOs and Entrepreneurs to support our JOBS INITIATIVE for our brothers and sisters being evacuated from South Africa.
Already, 120 job offers have been secured.
Kindly call our Delivery Unit.
Ghana always cares.
For God and Country.
It has been most impactful reviving our PJCC with Jamaica after a long 21-year hiatus.
I commend my counterpart, the outstanding Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica, Senator the Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith for leading such an impressive delegation of Ministers and high level officials to Accra.
I convey heartfelt congratulations to Foreign Minister Kamina Johnson Smith for serving as Foreign Minister for 10 years. She has been exceptionally successful in her role as Jamaicaโs first female Foreign Minister and currently as the longest serving female Foreign Minister in the world.
May I add that I am truly humbled and touched by her very kind remarks and positive appraisal about me during her historic visit to Ghana.
A key outcome of the PJCC was the agreement we signed which will ensure some 400 Ghanaian nurses are sent to Jamaica to boost health delivery in the friendly nation.
We also signed additional agreements for defence cooperation and tourism.
Ghana and Jamaica have also agreed to complete ongoing negotiations to send Ghanaian teachers to Jamaica by August this year.
We must all be proud to see how Ghanaian professionals are in high demand all over the world.
I also took the opportunity to celebrate Jamaica for their unwavering support during the landmark adoption of the Ghana-led UN resolution declaring the transatlantic enslavement as the gravest crime against humanity.
Jamaica renewed their appreciation of Ghanaโs humanitarian support when we sent our gallant soldiers and donated relief items in the aftermath of Hurricane Melisa.
It is worthy of note that the Jamaican Prime Minister, The Rt. Hon. Andrew Holness has extended a special invitation to President John Mahama to serve as guest of honour at this yearโs Jamaican National Day celebrations.
I am deeply elated and inspired by the renewed enthusiasm in our ancestral Ghana-Jamaica relations.
Long live our Ghana ๐ฌ๐ญ Jamaica ๐ฏ๐ฒ inseparable partnership.
600 more Ghanaians register at our High Commission to be evacuated from South Africa.
When the safety and dignity of Ghanaians are at stake, the Government of Ghana does not compromise or dither.
I am immensely proud of the resilient spirit of Ghanaians.
See you soon -- there's no place like home.
For God and Country ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐๐พ
Ghanaโs Ministry of Foreign Affairs cautions that the notice in circulation claiming that Ghanaians have been asked to leave Cambodia is FAKE.
Cambodian authorities have confirmed to us that they have issued no such notice. The Cambodian Ministry of Interior has proceeded to issue a press clarification today stating that the purported notice is โcompletely untrueโ (see attached).
I can, however, assure Ghanaians that prior to the publication of this fake notice, a number of Ghanaians in Cambodia had reached out to us requesting to be evacuated, and are already being assisted by the Foreign Ministry and our High Commission in Malaysia.
Between March and May this year, we have evacuated 85 Ghanaians from Cambodia. 76 more are being evacuated to complete the exercise.
The welfare of Ghanaians anywhere in the world remains our priority.
For God and Country ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐๐พ
The Government and People of Ghana are deeply proud about the meteoric progress the world is making on reparatory justice following our Ghana-led March 25 landmark UN resolution declaring the transatlantic enslavement as the gravest crime against humanity.
Today, in an unprecedented move, lawmakers in France voted unanimously (254-0) to repeal Code Noir โ the atrocious and dehumanizing King Louis XIV slave laws of 1685 which had 60 articles classifying Africans as property and justifying the mutilation of body parts of Africans.
In another momentous development, Pope Leo XIV has commendably issued an apology this week for the role of the Catholic Church in slavery.
The Government of Ghana has already formally welcomed the Popeโs apology.
Ghana is pleased and inspired by these monumental outcomes which demonstrate both the significance and consequential power of the UN Resolution championed by President John Mahama.
Those who thought the landmark Ghana-led resolution massively adopted by 123 UN Member States was a mere academic exercise must be revising their position.
Ghana looks forward to our defining Next Steps Conference on Reparatory Justice being convened by President Mahama from June 17-19, 2026 in Accra to build on these outstanding gains and formulate a common strategy.
I remain absolutely confident that comprehensive reparatory justice shall be achieved in our lifetime.
Victory shall be ours!
For God, Country and Africa.
Ghana wishes our cherished citizens a safe flight from South Africa.
We cannot wait to warmly welcome you all to our beloved nation.
Come let's celebrate Eid al-Adha together.
We love our citizens.
For God and Country.

For God and Country ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐๐พ
Nassrawisโฆ what a season. From day one, we knew what we wanted and what it would take to get there. We worked, fought and gave everything in every training and every game. It wasnโt an easy road, but we did it together. Thank you for believing in us and standing by our side every step of the way.
