Recent stuff got me thinking about the arm shield in the Secret Level Armored Core episode.

They absolutely put the shield on the arm instead of a backpack arm for rule of cool and they were right for it. It could totally work in an AC game, since balance doesn't actually change, but inputs could get funny.
