BREAKING: South Sudan directs all social media sites blocked from midnight for at least 30 days, in letter to internet service providers.
The directive follows “violent attacks” against South Sudanese refugees in Wad Madani that have been widely shared online
Employers in Kenya can no longer keep workers on endless renewable short-term contracts for jobs that are permanent, the Court of Appeal has ruled.
The judges said employees doing continuous long-term work may be entitled to permanent and pensionable terms.
Just realised Judges are giving all mention dates on 29th July knowing fully well that 30th is Martyr's day. They've probably already traveled out of Town by today. Mischief. #SSOX
@Danhier_BaPPA@AkuilaDok What's concerning is that Minister of Interior with officers in charge of Immigration just came from a trip to Kenya last week. What happened during their meeting with Murkomen?
In 2019, I watched you give a talk at Alliance Francais against the Lamu Coal Project. Citing environmental studies and all.
Now you're pushing for a refinery at Lamu making no mention of en environmental impact assessment.
Langu jicho tu.
Criteria for a refinery on scale of proposed
Must have:
Deep water harbour ( 18m+ draft)—port can be built
Land ~ 5000 acres
Fresh water (desalination too expensive)
Good to have:
Captive market
Crude oil
Lámu ticked all the boxes.
Dangote's refinery in Lamu will help South Sudan shift from over reliance on Port Sudan. It will however create a captive market. Question is, will prices drop and stabilise?
