I’ve written many times over the years about my 2x great grandfather, who was a US Civil war veteran, U.S. Deputy Marshal (who rode with Bass Reeves, played by Delroy Lindo), and was a leader among the Cherokee Freedmen. He was enslaved by a Cherokee named Alzirah May.
