@A24 This film encodes the exact logic that causes schizophrenic people to be abandoned by families and dropped by care workers — the fear of contagion, the belief that proximity is dangerous. It doesn't invent that stigma, it validates it and aestheticizes it.

Very dissapointing as it does have a lot of empathy for them in the movie in its writing and language but ultimately Phantasmagoria 2 has a better view of a life of a schizo then this fucking movie.

Watched the backrooms, not a bad movie. Just I think the way it views schizophrenics is antiquated and sort of explotative. Basically saying that if you have schizo blood you will transfer it to other people like a vampire if you try to help. Thematically anyway.
