A woman at my workplace once told me she had stopped borrowing people money because of one experience.

Her friend borrowed ₦200k and promised to return it in two weeks.

Two weeks became three months.

She finally asked for her money.

The friend said, “I'm sorry, I honestly don't have it right now.”

She let it go.

Six months later, the same friend invited her to her birthday dinner.

She went.

Halfway through the night, the birthday girl stood up and announced:

“I just want to thank everyone who supported me. I finally bought my dream car!”

Guess who was sitting there watching her receive the car keys? 😭

The ₦200k was still “coming.”

My friend told me something about her marriage recently and honestly, I didn't know whether to laugh or be concerned.

She said her husband has always been very private with his phone. Not necessarily secretive, just the type that doesn't leave it lying around.

One evening, he was in the shower and his phone kept ringing.

She ignored it at first.

Then a message popped up:

“I really enjoyed tonight. Thank you ❤️”

She said her heart dropped.

She waited for him to come out and asked him about it.

He looked at the message, laughed and said, “Oh, that's my colleague.”

She asked why his female colleague was thanking him for “tonight.”

He explained that a few of them had gone out after work for dinner and she was simply thanking everyone for the evening.

Sounds reasonable, right?

Except my friend then asked:

“So why did you tell me you came straight home from work?”

He went quiet.

Apparently, he had actually gone out with the colleague and two other coworkers but didn't mention it because he knew his wife wouldn't like it.

Nothing romantic happened.

But now she's angry because, according to her, the lie is bigger than whatever happened at dinner.

And honestly, I can see both sides.

If your partner hides something because they know you'll be upset, is that still a betrayal if nothing actually happened?

One time I went to buy something from a small provision store around my area.

There was this little boy, maybe like 7 or 8, standing beside his mum.

The woman was pricing something with the seller and the boy suddenly looked at me and said,

“Madam, you look like my teacher.”

I laughed and said, “Really? How?”

He looked at me for a few seconds and said,

“Because my teacher also looks tired all the time.” 😭

His mum immediately turned around like,

“WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?”

This boy started running. 😭😭

I once went to an ATM late at night to withdraw money.

There was a woman standing behind me in the queue.

When it got to my turn, I inserted my card and entered my PIN.

The ATM suddenly went off.

Screen completely blank.

My card was still inside.

I started panicking because it was already late and there was nobody around.

The woman behind me said, “Don't worry. It will come back on.”

I laughed nervously and said, “I hope so.”

About 30 seconds later, the ATM came back on.

My card came out.

I collected it and walked away.

The woman then called after me.

“Excuse me!”

I turned around.

She said, “You forgot your money.”

I checked my hand.

Nothing.

I went back to the ATM.

₦100,000 was sitting in the cash dispenser.

I just stood there staring at it.

I hadn't even realized the machine had processed the withdrawal before it went off.

I collected the money and turned around to thank the woman.

She was gone.

I looked around the whole area.

Nothing.

To this day, I don't know where she went because the ATM was literally beside the only entrance and I would've seen her leave.

Maybe she just walked away while I was panicking.

Maybe there's a perfectly normal explanation.

But that night, I went home with my ₦100k and a story nobody believed. 😭

One time my sister told me a grown man was trying to flirt with her.

She was 15.

She apparently let him talk for a bit, then finally told him, “Sir, I'm actually 15.”

This man went completely quiet. 😭

He apologized, turned around and started walking away.

Then, from the embarrassment, this grown man tripped and fell.

My sister said she just stood there watching him get up like… “Are you okay, sir?” 😭😭

Omo what are these children eating these days?? Because 15 and she's already looking like a grown woman that can confuse men😭
