This is weak and transparently cowardly. It shows a lack of leadership. You are someone I have held respect for a long time as a constituent of yours. This reeks of groveling ineptitude in the face of fascist pressure. This is not leadership and is instead a grave mistake that I hope you are punished for it come the next time you attempt to retain or gain an office. I will certainly not support you unless you apologize and recognize that this moment requires strong leadership and pushback and not capitulation to the largest threat our constitution has ever seen. You are not presenting yourself as a reasonable moderate as much as I believe is your motivation. You have allowed this administration to bully you into prostrating yourself before a tyrant when so many of your peers are choosing to meet the moment.
