A judge has temporarily blocked the proposed Paramount–Warner Bros. merger.

• A coalition of states argues the deal violates federal antitrust law and could lead to higher prices and fewer movies and TV shows.

• If the merger isn’t completed by Sept. 30, Paramount will begin owing Warner Bros. investors millions of dollars per day.
