Long before Tanzania became one nation, its land was home to ancient communities. Early hunter-gatherers lived around Olduvai Gorge, one of the most important archaeological sites in the world. Over time, Bantu farmers, Nilotic pastoralists, and Cushitic peoples settled across the region, forming kingdoms, clans, and trading societies.
By the first millennium, the East African coast became part of a major Indian Ocean trade network. Arab and Persian traders arrived, trading gold, ivory, and spices. Cities like Kilwa flourished, and Islam spread along the coast. The Swahili culture—mixing African and Arab traditions—was born.
In the late 1800s, European powers scrambled for Africa. Mainland Tanzania, then called Tanganyika, fell under German control. Meanwhile, the islands of Zanzibar remained under Arab rule, led by sultans of Omani origin.
After Germany lost World War I, Tanganyika was taken over by United Kingdom and ruled as a British territory. Zanzibar later became a British protectorate, though it retained its sultan.
In Tanganyika, a young teacher named Julius Nyerere emerged as a powerful voice for freedom. Through peaceful activism and unity, Tanganyika gained independence from Britain on December 9, 1961.
Zanzibar’s path was more turbulent. In January 1964, a revolution overthrew the sultan, and the islands became a republic under the leadership of Abeid Karume.
In a historic move, Tanganyika and Zanzibar decided to unite to strengthen peace and stability. On April 26, 1964, they merged to form a new country: TAN-ZA-NIA—a name combining Tanganyika and Zanzibar.
Julius Nyerere became the first president of the United Republic of Tanzania, promoting unity, African socialism (Ujamaa), and national identity across ethnic and religious lines.
So, technically, you're saying the VC/Registrar, doesn't know the difference between "appointment" and "redeployment", right ?
Because, I believe the VC wrote it with his hands, gave it to registrar to work on, and received it after it was done, from the registrar.
I don't think this is a mistake.
I feel he only apologies and try to change the narration, because he was caught an called out.
We all know what we are doing.
Shalom...!!

@Deonite7@Chude_ND1 There was a mix up. The VC did not bring in 'aids' from outside. He merely redeployed existing FUTO staff to different areas including to his office. It was misunderstood. The problem is that the Registrar used the word APPOINT instead of REDEPLOY but the VC has clarified things
