The MECs of Sport, Arts and Culture in all provinces have since announced the provincial Relief Funds to assist athletes and artists at that level. These Funds amount to more than R50 million combined. #SportArtsCultureReliefFund
We received 470 applications from the Sport sector. 296 applicants were approved & paid. 174 were declined.
26 appeals were received, 10 were successful & 3 were not successful of which 2 appealed but were declined as they already received funding #SportArtsCultureReliefFund
In the Arts and Culture sectors 1,250 applicants were successful but the high number of those unsuccessful applicants compelled us to set up an appeals process to give a platform to those who were not recommended, for their case to be heard. #SportArtsCultureReliefFund
As a result, the number of successful applicants in the Arts & Culture sector has increased to 1,520. This number will continue to change because of the 1,284 appeals emails that have been received to date. On 26 May, 1050 have been sent for payment. #SportArtsCultureReliefFund
