America faces real threats from foreign adversaries, terrorists, cyber actors, and hostile intelligence services. Section 702 remains one of our nation’s most effective tools for identifying and disrupting those threats before they reach our shores.
The bipartisan Senate reauthorization strengthens both security and civil liberties by adding new safeguards, increasing transparency, expanding congressional oversight, imposing criminal penalties for misuse, and enhancing protections for Americans’ constitutional rights.
Democrats are choosing to halt action on reauthorization, undermining national security and putting politics ahead of the safety of the American people. At a time of growing threats around the world, Congress should be strengthening the tools that protect our nation—not weakening them. We call on Senator Schumer and Senator Warner to bring Senate Democrats back to the table with Senate Republicans and pass this critical piece of legislation.
Reauthorizing Section 702 is about protecting Americans’ privacy and protecting Americans’ security. We can—and must—do both.
Earlier today, I joined the French Minister of the Armed Forces @CaVautrin in Normandy.
Together, we honored the courage, heroism, and sacrifice of the thousands of Allied troops who stormed the D-Day beaches 82 years ago in defense of freedom.
Eighty-two years ago, Allied forces stormed the beaches of Normandy into the hell of war — answering the call of duty in defense of freedom.
Today, we honor their courage, remember their sacrifice, and remain forever grateful for the liberty they secured for generations to come.
Save money for months, pay a smuggler $$$$, risk your life traveling to the U.S. illegally, all to get arrested within minutes and deported within hours.
Not smart! Save your money, save your life, stay home!
Thank you to @secwar and @deptofwar@Secrubioo for helping secure the border and keep America safe.
At the request of @DHSgov, the Department of War supported a @CBP & @ICEgov repatriation flight to Honduras this week.
By providing transportation and logistical support, @US_TRANSCOM and DOW enable law enforcement officers to focus on enforcing immigration laws, removing illegal aliens, and securing our Homeland.
Eighty-two years ago today, freedom stood on the edge of extinction, and Allied forces stormed into hell to help save the world.
We will never forget the courage, the sacrifice, and the blood spilled on that fateful day.
.@SECWAR just met World War II veterans at the Normandy American Cemetery Ceremony.

The Office of the Secretary of War is announcing a significant change to the Department’s categorization of religious affiliation. In a long overdue move, we reduced the list from over 200 unmanageable categories to 31. With this move, we are returning to the original intent of collecting this data - to allow our chaplains and religious support personnel to provide the best spiritual care to our warfighters.
This decrease in religious affiliation codes is not designed to make any claims on the legitimacy of any faith or religious belief, nor is it intended to provide a list of “officially approved” religions. Rather, it is designed to allow chaplains to quickly look at the religious composition of their units and determine how they structure resources to best provide for warfighters of all faith groups.
The Department of War places a high value on the First Amendment and the free exercise of religion. Chaplains play an instrumental role in providing spiritual care and facilitating the Warfighters' ability to freely exercise their religion of choice, or no religion at all. With this new change, we believe we can provide the best data to support our chaplains in that effort.
FREEDOM THROUGH LEADERSHIP
This week's Freedom250 Reflective Moments explores the events that helped shape the post-WWII era from Midway to the Berlin Airlift.
Overnight, U.S. forces carried out a maritime interdiction and right-of-visit boarding of the sanctioned stateless vessel MT DAVINA located in the Indian Ocean within the INDOPACOM area of responsibility.
We will continue global maritime enforcement to disrupt illicit networks and interdict vessels providing material support to Iran, wherever they operate.
International waters cannot be used as a shield by sanctioned actors. The Department of War will continue to deny illicit act ors and their vessels freedom of maneuver in the maritime domain.
