That is not health care. That is a billing operation wearing a lab coat.
CMS Prevents $1.6 Billion in Fraudulent Medicare Laboratory Payments
157 lab providers kicked out of Medicare.
That is not a rounding error. That is a pipeline.
Since President Trump returned to office, CMS and the White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud have blocked or clawed back more than $1.6 billion in potentially improper Medicare laboratory payments.
The labs were billing for tests that were never performed, tests patients did not need, and services marked up beyond what should have been paid.
Here is how the $1.6 billion breaks down.
$732 million saved by revoking 157 fraudulent lab providers from the Medicare program.
More than $500 million stopped after investigators reviewed about 600 labs and issued 185 payment suspensions.
$276 million recouped from 442 overpayments that had already gone out the door.
$127 million prevented after 85 cases were referred to law enforcement.
Read that again. Some of the money never left. Some of it had to be chased after it was already stolen. Both are an admission that the system was being farmed.
One case shows how easy it was. A consulting-company owner enrolled 14 laboratories in Medicare and billed more than $24 million. CMS said none of those labs appeared to be operating. No working clinic. No staff. No equipment. Fourteen names on paper and a claim machine aimed at the Trust Fund. CMS held back $12 million, recovered another $7 million, and removed most of those labs from the program. The rest are still under investigation.
That is not health care. That is a billing operation wearing a lab coat.
CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz said the obvious part out loud. When laboratories bill Medicare for tests they never performed, it drains the Medicare Trust Fund and diverts resources away from beneficiaries who need them. Under the White House Anti-Fraud Task Force, CMS says it has built a technology-powered operation using analytics and machine-learning models to flag suspicious patterns before the check goes out. Genetic tests. Drug tests. Pathogen panels. Claims for patients who had no relationship with the ordering provider. Empty offices billing like they were running a hospital.
This did not start last week. CMS launched the Fraud Defense Operations Center in 2025. Agency figures put overall Medicare fraud-prevention savings at $42 billion in fiscal year 2025. So far in fiscal year 2026, CMS says it has identified $1.8 billion in Medicare overpayments, collected $378 million, and suspended hundreds of millions more in suspected fraud across labs, medical equipment, hospice, and other corners of the program.
The White House line was blunt. The previous administration treated taxpayer-funded programs as piggy banks for fraudsters.
Seniors paid into Medicare their entire working lives. They were told the money would be there when they needed a real test, a real diagnosis, a real doctor. Instead a chunk of it was being vacuumed out by operations that never drew blood, never ran a machine, and never saw the patient.
Fraud is not compassion. It is theft from the people who can least afford it.
Revoke the fake labs. Suspend the payments. Refer the cases. Keep the Trust Fund for Americans who actually earned it.
This is what enforcement looks like when someone decides the scam is no longer the cost of doing business.
This is what leftover theater looks like on a Supreme Court Justice
Why Is Ketanji Brown Jackson Still Wearing a Mask in 2026?
Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson was filmed Friday walking through Reagan National Airport in Washington with a mask on her face. Security detail. Bags in tow. Year of our Lord 2026.
COVID mandates ended years ago. The emergency is over.
Airports are full of unmasked travelers who somehow managed to board a plane without turning it into a medical ritual. She is not a nurse in an ICU. She is an associate justice of the United States Supreme Court.
That is the part that matters.
This is the same justice who writes standalone dissents whenever the Court moves toward the text of the Constitution instead of the politics of the moment. Mail-in ballots. Agency power.
The cases that decide how this country is actually governed. She is one of nine people with a lifetime commission to say what the law is. And the image America just got is 2020 cosplay in a domestic terminal.
Senator Mike Lee asked the only useful question: to keep excessive questions at bay?
Maybe she is sick. People get colds. Fine. Then say so. A justice does not owe the country a medical chart. She does owe the country a standard of seriousness that matches the job.
A mask in 2026, with no explanation, reads like the last people who never left the pandemic church. The ones who treated cloth as virtue and dissent as violence.
Biden put her on that bench. The country is still living with the opinions. The video is a small thing. The habit behind it is not. If the science was settled, the mask would have come off with everyone elseโs.
If it was never about science, this is what leftover theater looks like on a justice who still wants the last word.
