Our Year 7 students are currently looking at separation techniques and today they completed Chromatography! The students were amazed watching the colours separate.
At STEM Club yesterday, our students continued with their 'Making Chocolate Rocks' mission! We have been looking at the rock cycle and creating the best method to make the different rock types!
We have been lucky to have assistance from our Dance Department for our Great Science Share for Schools! Students have worked tirelessly to create a dance piece showing Physics used in Formula One racing, we are so excited to see the final result!
In STEM yesterday, our students looked at their presentation in preparation for The Great Science Share for Schools. They are looking at different ways to show different rock types through chocolate!
Today, our Year 10 Triple Science class completed our effect of concentration on rates of reaction investigation. It led to some wet desks, but students completed the practical and practiced method planning!
It is GCSE time! We wish the Year 11 students the best of luck in all of their Papers! The first Science one is Biology tomorrow! Good luck and happy revising!

Our Year 9 students are looking at transporting substances and have moved into Osmosis! This lesson had students create the perfect set up for their Osmosis Required Practical!
Following British Science Week, our students had many questions in our theme of 'What's your question?'. So, with the help of our STEM Club members, we have put together some questions and answers which will be shared on X over the coming weeks! Stay tuned!
More STEM fun this week! Students checked conductivity and went on to see if Potatoes could conduct electricity! British Science Week may be complete, but the fun never stops!
Thank you to SEERIH and course leader Nicola. Science leaders were inspired in today’s teacher training event. After 11 years of supporting GSSfS, we are excited to be holding the inaugural GSSfS Derby Satellite event later this year. @GreatSciShare@UoMSEERIH
From The Derby High School Science Department, we hope you've had a fantastic British Science Week! We are already looking forward to next year being bigger and better!
Our Year 10 Triple Science students were delighted to have a Q&A session with Dr Nicola Cooper-Moss! The students were thrilled to have the opportunity to speak with a professional in the medical field who is a Derby High Alumni! We thank Dr Nicola for the opportunity!
