If the SNP is ever going to convince a settled majority to vote for independence, a leader who can charm and persuade instinctive opponents is required. That leader patently isn’t Nicola Sturgeon. The gist of @alexmassie in @SundayTimesSco

As @Ianblackford_MP stands down after five years at the helm, his colleagues are united in praising his hard work, good humour and grit. It’s a tough gig, made tougher still by his long weekly commute. Sending Ian and Ann every good wish. https://t.co/9V3hnE7Kur
What a mess Angus Robertson made of the BBC interviewer this lunchtime. He had her squirming in all directions trying to justify the denial of democracy.
@SimonPia1 This is deeply felt. He was one of the heroes who mixed footballing style with teenage rock star appeal during my weekly jaunts down Easter Road. I owe him a thank you.
RIP, Jimmy.

@staylorish@scottishgreens@MaggieChapman I don’t think anyone had done more to publicise the idea of Scotland’s renewable wealth than this Unionist wingnut who doesn’t understand he is doing his opponent’s work for him.

I don’t care what currency we use if it means saving asylum seekers from being treated like animals and their children raped. Non SNP voting Scots need to wake up. https://t.co/B1EYxjtnMy
@magnusllewellin Times wrong about Sturgeon.
Eurocrats have to hold the line on currency as it’s a bedrock position of the EU. In reality they have no powers to force the Euro on a member state. Personally I hope Scotland is obliged to take the currency. It’s the future after all.
Sadly for our Unionist correspondent, there is no comparison between Scotland and the economic clusterf**k being created at Westminster where our wealth is wasted, banking is corrupted and the rich get richer. (Even the Chancellor is a multi millionaire). How desperate is he?
1/ Fascinating archive footage. @NicolaSturgeon & @AndrewWilson wince as they recall embarrassing incident during 1999 election campaign when the SNP published an economic plan for independence, but struggled with the fiscal forecasts at a press conference… (Part 1 of video)
