Advice for poker players trying to improve their game:

1. Stop trying to reinvent the wheel, having a solid foundation is way more important than wild bluffs

2. Have a routine before you play, DO NOT hop out of bed and just log in.

3. When BOTH on an up or downswing evaluate your play often. People tend to study when on a downswing without regards to variance

4. Variance is brutal, you have to be mentally tough as nails to become elite. If bad beats affect your ability to perform you simply will not make it. It's a game, treat it as such.

5. Stop justifying bad plays because of XYZ factors, the sooner you are to accept you messed up a hand the faster your progress will be to improving.
