IL is now averaging 50k #COVID tests per day, w/ more than 3.8M tests to date. All w/ little to no help from the Trump Admin, which still has NO national testing strategy six months into this pandemic. Many thanks to @GovPritzker & his team for their leadership during this time.
COVID-19 Prep Update- March 14:
Last night I was on with state & local officials around the US well into the night. By March 23 many of our largest cities & hospitals are on course to be overrun with cases.
I am going to prepare a memo for them. I will share highlights here.1/
I thought this was the best COVID-19 article I’ve read. Really helps you think through what comes next over the next several months.

Today is a three dimensional demonstration of the consequences of electing someone like this. He’s not lying about his wealth. He’s not lying about his polling. He’s not lying about his opponent or his ratings. He’s lying about a pandemic and the government response.
As both an emergency manager and as someone who helped manage the 2014 USG Ebola response, let me tell you why this is such a damaging tweet.
This is the loudest voice in the US government sharing actively problematic risk communication.
Great article on where we’ve had/not had tech success in the last 20-30 years. If we really want to “change the world”, it’s got to start by realizing that tech has done surprisingly little to improve large parts of the economy and that we can do better.

Silicon Valley Broke All Its Promises https://t.co/EuQYzmyky8 @DKThomp: “Perhaps it’s time to reconsider the wisdom of placing such a big bet on Silicon Valley...too much American ingenuity is chasing problems that simply don’t matter.“ #RiseOfRest
When the only American citizen President Trump singles out for China’s investigation is his political opponent in the midst of the Democratic nomination process, it strains credulity to suggest that it is anything other than politically motivated.
"I think it's important to understand that, just because someone has the views they do today, doesn't mean that we should ultimately give up on them. I think a lot of people do evolve, and will evolve." RIP Michael Bauer https://t.co/vTc62e1eOU
Worth remembering just how bad the gun violence crisis in our hometown (and many other places in the US) is on a regular basis too. The good news is it’s not an either/or. Gun safety laws can make progress on both mass shootings and systematic violence! https://t.co/NySxvf0MY2
The violence was so bad over the weekend that the emergency room at Mt. Sinai Hospital was forced to close for several hours as our hospitals and heroic first responders were stretched to their limit across the city. This is not normal. We must act now. https://t.co/q6j7jPgO0X
https://t.co/Ihgeb3t70I. This was families back to school shopping. Reports say the victims included kids as young as 4 months old. What will it take before we reform our gun laws? I’m so sad how this keeps happening and we do nothing. Hug your kids extra close tonight.
There’s a lot of repellent stuff in these tweets, but it’s interesting that Trump presumes Ayanna Pressley (born in Chicago), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (born in NYC), and Rashida Tlaib (born in Detroit) were not born in the USA.
This college graduate honored her parents in her graduation photos, standing in her cap and gown, in the middle of the fruit fields where her mother still works.
