This is exactly why trust in the police is collapsing.

A man stands inside his own home, calls a police officer a “clown” and gets tackled and arrested.

Calling a police officer a clown is not a criminal offence and is not sufficient grounds for arrest.

That is not proportionate policing. It is the kind of heavy handed nonsense that destroys public confidence.

Every time officers behave like this, they make the job harder for every decent police officer in the country.
