You are correct - pool was designed to ask us pause and reflect on the horrors and 400,000 deaths in the Civil War (on both sides) it was not meant to ever be a bright and shining swimming pool. It had natural drainage not a liner - the liner blocked the natural flow of the water that cleaned the pool. Tragedy for wildlife who live there, tragedy for all who appreciate the true design and meaning of the pool. Trump is a shallow man with no deep thoughts or introspection - and his influence blights the nation. He cares for bright shiny things like an old crow hoarding bottlecaps in a pine tree.

What Actually Occurred:

Back in 2012, a heavy concrete sealant was applied to close off the historic limestone. When contractors tried to sandblast it away for this rushed renovation, the manufacturer explicitly warned that the new blue liner would not adhere properly to the contaminated surface.

Because they cut corners on surface preparation and refused to let the sealant fully cure before prematurely refilling the basin, the entire coating system simply delaminated and released on its own.

Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln’s assassin, John Wilkes Booth, was not a member of the Democratic Party.
Booth was a staunch Confederate sympathizer—a member of the anti-immigrant, anti-Catholic American Party, known as the “Know-Nothing” party.
Booth was an avowed white supremacist and fiercely pro-slavery, detesting Lincoln and the Republican Party for their role in the abolition of slavery and the preservation of the Union. Abe wouldn’t be a Republican today. The two parties flipped ideologies in the civil rights era.

JFK
Lee Harvey Oswald, the man identified by the Warren Commission as JFK’s assassin, was not a Democrat. He wasn’t a registered voter for any major political party and wasn’t political.

James Earl Ray, the man who pleaded guilty to assassinating Martin Luther King Jr., was not a Democrat.
He wasn’t registered with a political party. Ray was an avowed white supremacist and a fugitive from prison at the time of the assassination. His political views were aligned with the segregationist platform and the far right. He hoped to get a bounty from white supremacist groups.

Reagan
No, Ronald Reagan’s shooter, John Hinckley Jr., was not a Democrat.
Investigators and historians have established that his motives were not political, but were instead rooted in a pathological obsession with actress Jodie Foster.

Trump
Thomas Matthew Crooks was a registered Republican. He carried out the shooting at the Butler, Pennsylvania, rally on July 13, 2024. Classmates described him as “definitely conservative” during high school debates. The FBI’s investigation found a “mixture of ideologies.” Raised Republican in a gun fetish family.

Ryan Wesley Routh was an unaffiliated voter with a history of changing political stances. He was arrested for an attempted assassination at Trump’s Florida golf course on September 15, 2024. He voted for Trump in 2016 but later became highly critical of him. He also expressed support for various other candidates across the spectrum, including Tulsi Gabbard, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Nikki Haley.

Tyler Robinson, the suspect charged with the assassination of Charlie Kirk in September 2025, wasn’t a Democrat. According to official state records, he was a registered voter in Utah but was unaffiliated with any political party. Raised Republican. Robinson reportedly viewed Kirk as someone who was “full of hate and spreading hate.” He was a fan of alt-right Nick Fuentes & Laura Loomer, who were also anti-Kirk and denounced Kirk as not loyal enough to Trump.

Friends and personal writings describe Vance Boelter as an evangelical Christian with strong conservative views, including opposition to abortion and LGBTQ+ rights. He also reportedly followed conspiracy-oriented content from Infowars and expressed a deep distrust of the government. He had a list of 45-70 Democrats he wanted to kill.
